Ted Davis completed his Fine Arts degree at the University of Ottawa in 2002. This collection of photographs is from a larger body of work that addresses beauty and atrophy in cut flowers. Photographing floral specimens when they are in their late stages and isolating them against a luminous background, Ted aims to reveal the individual character of each flower with a sense of intimacy. The size and scale of the prints play an important role in dialogue between subject and viewer. These are portraits of flowers that have become familiar to the photographer and whilst their aura may have become humble and their poise slightly withered, they sustain and emit a silent and dignified demeanor.
